In Loving Memory: Otis

OTIS was a stately gentleman. A gray and white cat of quiet demeanor, he was diagnosed with diabetes at the same time his owner began a battle with cancer and could not longer care for him. Thus he arrived at The Lily Pond in 2019 after we were contacted by a rescue organization seeking a home for a senior cat with special needs. Otis settled in quickly. While not entirely comfortable with other cats getting too close, he got along with his housemates and showed a decided appreciation for pets and cuddles from caregivers. Otis was a champ when it came to daily insulin shots and always first at the food bowl to partake of a hearty meal. We were able to keep him healthy and comfortable for years, until old age began to take a toll. He was diagnosed with kidney disease in early 2023. Combined with diabetes, his decline was shockingly fast. By the time summer arrived, his body was failing. We helped him peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by his caregivers. We miss the quiet presence of our sweet Otis and are grateful for the time we had together.

Thank you Otis for being a beloved member of our family.
May you rest in peace. ❤️🌈💫
