There’s a new tail wagging at The Lily Pond and it belongs to a beautiful Brittany Spaniel. Meet Coco! She was born in Spain and adopted by a couple in New York. A change in their circumstances required finding a new home for Coco and that’s when we got the call.
Coco arrived on a sunny day in 2024. She hopped out of the car and before we could blink, she was racing through the field looking like a small dot on the horizon. Fortunately, Coco has excellent recall, so she bounded right back and Susan brought her into the house. Coco was excited to explore her new home, and proceeded to zoom at high speed through the rooms, hopping on the kitchen table before flying through the living room. Crash went a potted plant. The lamp was next. Coco bounced off the furniture, her quick strides relegating the area rug to a bunched up ball in the corner. Zoom! Nicknacks went flying. What fun! By the time Coco landed back on the couch next to Susan, the room looked like a tornado had just touched down. Coco wagged her tail, looking very pleased with herself while Susan surveyed the damage in a daze. After briefly pondering methods for gluing down every item in the room, Susan finally resolved to switch to a higher octane brand of coffee in order to keep up with Coco.

In addition to running at light speed, Coco loves to play fetch and chew up her toys. Actually, Coco loves to chew anything, reducing the wicker toy basket to wicker dust in a record two days. But Coco wants everyone to know that the bite marks on the wood coffee table are not her fault! Alas, they are a legacy from our little Shih Tzu pup Happy, who preferred to chomp on furniture rather than his three thousand chew toys.
Coco loves the other dogs, who often find themselves being used as a spring board for Coco’s bouncing flights around the room or yard. Dolly and Kingsley don’t seem to mind, but Katonah is blind and usually registers a bit of surprise when Coco jumps off the couch onto his back before ricocheting around the room. All in good fun! In fact, that is Coco’s motto: life is all about having fun! Coco always has a smile on her face, a wag in her tail and bounce in her step as she explores the world with joy and insatiable curiosity. To be in Coco’s company is to see the world as a happy adventure. Coco never fails to capture the attention of everyone she meets… and their hearts as well.
