Zoom is a senior bay mare who was a PMU foal rescued from a ranch in North Dakota that serves the pharmaceutical industry in the production of Premarin, a hormone supplement for women that is made from the urine of pregnant mares. The ranch considers the foals born from their operation as a “by product of the industry.” Many foals don’t survive, but Zoom was lucky to be adopted sight unseen and shipped to New York, where she lived for many years with her rescuer and another horse named Moon. She and Moon are a bonded pair and arrived at The Lily Pond together in November 2020. Zoom has a sweet personality and can always be found at the side of her best buddy Moon.
