Marta Cat Lily Pond Animal Sanctuary

Marta

Rainbow Bridge. Forever in our hearts.

Marta was Queen of the Kitchen Sink. In fact, she owned the whole kitchen counter, where she spent her days yelling at us to turn on the faucet. None of the plebeian community water bowls for this gal! She only wanted to drink artisanal waters directly from the source. Marta arrived at the sanctuary from a situation of neglect. Her previous owner was a mentally challenged woman who was evicted from her apartment. Animal Control seized Marta and delivered her to a local humane society, where she was scheduled for immediate euthanization. A rescue organization pulled her and brought her to the sanctuary in October 2017. We nicknamed her Marta Mermaid because of her funny obsession with drinking from the faucet.

In the Spring of 2019, she was diagnosed with liver failure. We nursed her and kept her as comfortable as possible until her passing in October 2019. We like to think of her in heaven drinking from a fountain of love.
