Betty cat The Lily Farm Animal Sanctuary

Betty

Rainbow Bridge. Forever in our hearts.

Betty is a senior cat who we refer to as the Empress Dowager because of her regal and cranky personality. She has gone blind due to old age but doesn’t let that slow her down – she navigates the cat house quite well using her paw to feel her way to the food bowl and litter box, then back to her preferred perch at the window.  Before her arrival, she was a starving stray living near a pond and began following a local woman whenever she was out walking her dog. The woman brought her to a veterinarian, where she was nursed back to health. No one claimed her, so we were happy to welcome her to the sanctuary in November 2016.

Betty reached the age of 20 years when her body finally began to give out and day came when she would no longer eat or drink.  Betty passed peacefully here at home surrounded by her caregivers in January 2021.
